SPRING is Finally Here!

I can say with confidence that Punxsutawney Phil was correct and we have been blessed with an early Spring! What does that mean for you? Time to boost that curb appeal! Here's a few simple and cost effective ways to boost your homes curb appeal!

  1. Don't neglect the mailbox!
Having a custom mailbox or even just adding customer address numbers to the one your already have may be that pop that you're looking for! Plant and mulch around your mailbox for that added Spring flair.
  2. Trim and prune the bushes.
Trim back any existing overgrown shrubs and pull the branches back away from the house. Schrubs that are too close to the home can cause wood rot and can invite critters closer in towards your home.
  3. Touch up your front door and shutters.
Over time your front door and shutters will fade from the weather and the sun. Touch up paint will go a long way! If you're feeling adventurous go bold! Paint a red or yellow front door! In Scotland, a red front door means your mortgage is paid off!
  4. Time to re-grade.
This is the perfect time to make sure the dirt/mulch leading up to your home is pulling water away from the foundation, not towards it. This may not be the most fun Spring chore but it might be the most important. Extend your downspouts and clean your gutters to avoid moisture damage.
  5. PLANT!
This is the most fun chore! Pick up those spring Pansies, Grasses, and vibrant flowers. Punch up your front gardens, mailbox, and place planters on your front porch.
If you don't enjoy gardening as much I do - invite the kids and grand kids over to help! Spring is the perfect time to get the whole family outside helping and adding sweat equity!
