Entryway Do's and Don'ts

The foyer is the entry way to your home and the first thing your guests see when they come over and ofter times the last thing you see before you leave the house.

If you're luck enough, this area is large enough for you to create some amazing built in cubbies and custom spaces! My entryway is not that luxurious so I had to work with what I had...

  • A welcoming rug is key so your guests can wipe their shoes and feel a warm and cozy floor under their feet instead of cold tile.
  • A basket or small console can be helpful to store shoes. If you have the space, this pick from Amazon is beautiful, functional, and doesn't take up a lot of room - Click Here.
  • Large art is IN! I opted for a gold frame, oval mirror because my tweenage daughter needs to check her hair and makeup before she leaves for school. I got this at my local Home Sense for $25.00! I was proud of that bargain!
  • Layer your console table with decor that is tall and short and add greens! If you can add real greenery that would be ideal but if it's too dark or you don't have a green thumb, just go with the good ol' fake plants. They look great and stay looking great forever!
  • Make it feel homey - Your house is not a museum, it's a place of love and laughter, make it feel that way!
  • Don't be afraid of color or wallpaper in a small space!
