Gardening Season!
** It's here! In Maryland the general rule of thumb is to wait to plant your veggie garden until Mother's Day to ensure there will not be another frost in the forecast...I typically plant the last weekend in April and I haven't lost a crop yet! What to plant depends on your soil, location, and size of the garden. If you have a small patio, plant some container variety tomatoes, lettuce, and herbs! If you're blessed enough to have some serious gardening space then take advantage of that! Cucumbers, watermelon and pumpkins are all very viney and tend to take over a large space. Make sure you leave about 3ft diameter for those invasive veggies...or create a trellis system for them to latch onto. They are trainable.
It's a good idea to tier the timing of your planting. For example - I plant lettuce early because it likes chilly weather. Once the lettuce dies off in June I can replace that crop with a plant that likes the heat like tomato's. Having a constant rotation in your garden means constant variety!

I find nothing more therapeutic, especially in these crazy times of COVID 19 then to be in the garden tending to my plant babies and watching my harvest!
