5 Quick Staging Tips to Get Your Home Looking SHARP!

By: Danielle Waldera 2019

FACT: Everyone needs staging!! Even if you live in your home and you think it's just swell. I'll help you maximize your space by using the decor/furniture you already have and punching it up with some texture/color.

FACT: Professional staging costs thousands of dollars on it's own...but it comes complementary with my services for my clients as long as inventory allows.

1. LESS IS MORE
De-clutter. Make sure you only have out what you absolutely need to. That means putting your coffee maker away when you're not using it, cleaning your coffee table off from all those months of magazines piled up, and using toy bins for the kiddo's toys.

2. FIND YOUR THEME
Go with the same color palette throughout your home. For example, if you're coastal, use neutral grays/blues/tans. Using one coordinated color palette and decor theme throughout keeps your buyer focused on the features of the home that they love the most. The camera also loves neutral tones and your professional photography will look great!

3. MATCH THE ERA OF YOUR HOME
Don't try to stick super modern furniture into your traditional colonial home. Stick with the era of your home and roll with the vibe you have. It will make your home more cohesive. Your buyers are there for a reason - they like your home - so match your furniture with the general age of the home. Just make sure it's in good condition and clean.

4. DO YOU SMELL THAT?
Odor's are numero uno when it comes to an instant turn-off to a buyer. Common odors come from pets and smokers. Different kinds of cooking can also give off un pleasant odors to a buyer. Hire a professional cleaner to clean your home before you list. You may also want to think of cleaning your duct work in your home and replacing your air filters. Don't go too heavy on the air fresheners and keep the scents light/clean.

5. DON'T FORGET YOUR CURB APPEAL!
Trim back those hedges, plant vibrant planters, and keep the lawn mowed! If you're feeling adventurous and your HOA allows it, paint your front door, refresh your shutters and touch up your trim work. A lot of buyers start with a 'drive-by' and they will keep driving if they don't like what they see!
